< December 31, 2006 - 4:00 a.m. > When I was younger I used to recap all the good things that had happened to me during the year, top 50-style. I didn't do it last year because it seemed childish, but I think that it's fitting to do one this year considering the sheer volume of things that went down. So here it is, my top 56 of 2006: 1. Getting into second year 2. Sufjan Stevens 3. Going to the greatest nfg show with my sisters at Thanksgiving 4. Finally seeing the strokes 5. Getting addicted to the OC 6. Filming “Life of Pie” … 7. … and falling out of Daph’s trunk 8. Driving to Maine … 9. … and fireworks on the beach every night 10. That night on the dock 11. James’s birthday party 12. My friends showing up randomly at my parents’ house 13. Driving to Ottawa and back a million times 14. Mapping out our road trip with stickers on the giant map 15. Staying up until 5am to giggle uncontrollably 16. Getting to produce twenty-three projects this semester … 17. … and getting told that I’m good at it 18. Getting academic excellence bursaries from school, because that seems so unlikely 19. Brahma. And cheap molson ex by the truckload. 20. Cam in Vancouver on spring break … 21. … and diet cokes with extra ice 22. Daph in Vancouver for three weeks … 23. … and that night we took the bus … 24. … and that party we went to … 25. … and the times we got wasted 26. 5$ all you can drink night … 27. … and going swimming at 4am 28. Getting over a guy … 29. … then promptly falling for T.C. circa “Top Gun” … 30. My birthday night 31. Laguna Beach 32. That Saturday afternoon before work 33. Hanging out at Chelsea’s 34. Watching “Love Actually” with Cam … “I love YOOOOU !” 35. A million text messages 36. Daph’s voicemail/psychologist 37. The last week of April … 38. … and getting so drunk that I had no clue how I got to my house that night 39. Bagels at tim horton’s 40. Staying up all night before my flight home 41. School until 4am 42. Driving around with the windows all rolled down 43. McDonalds cheeseburgers 44. Pancakes at a diner when the power went out 45. Overanalyzing dreams … 46. … and everything else about our lives 47. Watching the World Cup with my dad 48. Blanche playing “wonderwall” on the cello 49. Daph’s ridiculous quotes 50. A million horoscopes a day 51. Rival Schools for every occasion 52. Relationship question mark heart ? 53. That sticker on my cell phone 54. Making amazing friends 55. Figuring my life out a little bit more 56. The best time we ever had. This year was truly incredible. I'm excited for 2007, because it feels like such a promise: new year, new plans, new chances. This year I resolve to just go for what I want, because it's proven so effective recently; and I hope that at this time next year I can look back at my current situation and smile fondly because it will have worked out. Yes ! The power of positive thinking. It seems like a lot of big things in my life have happened around the new year: unbelievably, it's been seven years (!) since I got really sick and ended up in the hospital for two months. Time seems to be going by so fast, but I'm not too worried ... good things are coming our way. in time, a far-away |
